Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte has experienced successful knee surgery after being stretchered off on Saturday in their win over Brighton.
The Frenchman, 25, went down from Brighton centre-back Adam Webster in the minute of the game at the Etihad Stadium.
A team statement released by City says: »Aymeric Laporte has undergone surgery on his knee after damaging his own ribs and lateral meniscus.
« The operation, carried out by physician Ramon Cugat in Barcelona, was powerful and a more comprehensive prognosis will be given in due course »
After Vincent Kompany left Anderlecht in the summertime, John Stones has missed the previous two matches with a thigh injury, leaving Nicolas Otamendi because their centre-back.
Uncapped Laporte was selected for Didier Deschamps’ France squad.
No time-frame has been put on the retrieval of Laporte.
