Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte has experienced knee operation that was successful after being stretchered off in their win over Brighton on Saturday.
25, the Frenchman, went down under a challenge at the Etihad Stadium from Brighton centre-back Adam Webster at the minute of this match.
A club statement released by City states: »Aymeric Laporte has undergone surgery on his knee after damaging his cartilage and lateral meniscus.
« The operation, carried out by physician Ramon Cugat at Barcelona, was successful and a more thorough prognosis will be provided in due course »
Following Vincent Kompany abandoned Anderlecht in the summer, John Stones has missed the previous two games with a thigh injury, leaving Nicolas Otamendi because their centre-back.
Uncapped Laporte was selected for Didier Deschamps’ France squad.
No time-frame has been put on Laporte’s retrieval.
