Marcus Edwards, that was compared to Lionel Messi from Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, looks set to join an undercover Portuguese club.
The attacking midfielder needed a loan stint at the Netherlands last season, where he made 25 appearances for Excelsior from the Eredivisie, scoring just two purposes.
He had a loan spell at Norwich but made one Championship look for Daniel Farke’s side.
Even the 20-year-old was the best scorer at the U19 UEFA Youth League with four objectives in six starts during the group phase, and is under contract before 2020 in Tottenham.
He scored a further five goals in nine Premier League two looks.
Edwards has represented England at U16, U17, U18, U19 and U20 amounts – winning the European U19 Championship using the Young Lions.
